White Fillings
White (composite) fillings are a popular choice for tooth repair because they are made from a resin that matches the shade, translucency and even the texture of your natural teeth, offering a better looking result than amalgam (silver) fillings, which can be very noticeable when you smile.
We can replace old metal fillings with tooth-coloured composite but this may not be suitable for larger cavities, as the material is not sufficiently strong over extensive areas. In these cases, laboratory produced inlays and onlays are recommended. White fillings are ideal for small holes that are not subjected to strong forces.
The treatment process
- We give you a local anaesthetic to ensure the procedure will be pain-free and remove the existing filling and/or decay.
- We apply the filling in layers and once it is in place and has set, we carry out the final shaping and polishing.
