X-ray services
At Stoke Bishop Dental Centre, we use the latest digital imaging technology to support accurate, safe, and effective dental care. Our in-house X-ray services allow us to capture highly detailed images of your teeth, jaw and surrounding structures helping us plan your treatment with precision.
Why are dental X-rays important?
Dental X-rays allow us to:
- Detect issues not visible to the naked eye
- Assess bone levels, root health and tooth positioning
- Plan treatments such as implants, extractions, orthodontics and root canal therapy
- Monitor the progress of ongoing treatment
- Ensure your diagnosis is as accurate and informed as possible
Our imaging services
All X-rays at our practice are digital, which means lower radiation exposure and faster results.
OPG (Orthopantomogram)
An OPG is a panoramic scan that provides a broad view of your entire upper and lower jaw in a single image.
It’s commonly used to assess:
- Tooth development and position
- Jawbone health
- Wisdom teeth
- TMJ (jaw joint) issues
- Planning for implants or extractions
This non-invasive scan is quick, comfortable and essential for diagnosing issues that may not be visible with standard dental X-rays.
Lat Ceph (Lateral Cephalometric X-ray)
A Lateral Cephalometric X-ray, or Lat Ceph, captures a side-view of the skull and jaw. It’s most often used in orthodontic planning to assess:
- Jaw alignment and growth patterns
- Tooth positioning in relation to facial structure
- The effects of orthodontic treatment over time
Lat Ceph imaging is vital for creating accurate orthodontic treatment plans, particularly for braces or aligners.
CT Scan (Cone Beam CT)
A Cone Beam CT scan provides a 3D view of your teeth, jawbone and surrounding structures. This type of imaging is highly detailed and used for:
- Dental implant planning
- Complex root canal (endodontic) cases
- Bone graft assessment
- Diagnosing cysts, lesions or impacted teeth
CT scans give us a full picture of your oral anatomy, which is essential for safe and predictable treatment outcomes.
Patient-centred, safe & efficient
Your comfort and safety are our top priorities. All our X-rays are taken in-house by trained professionals, using low-dose radiation and state-of-the-art digital equipment. Results are available immediately and form a crucial part of your personalised treatment plan.
